Makarewicz Henryk
(1917 – 1984) He was a member of ZPAF (The Association of Polish Art Photographers) from 1950 and a cameraman of Polska Kronika Filmowa (the Polish Newsreel). He photographed and documented the construction of Nowa Huta (an industrial district of Krakow) and the Lenin Steelworks. His archive also contained materials dating back to 1950s and the 1960s for Wytwórna Filmów Dokumentalnych (Documentary Studio). He was a cameraman in films about the character of Nowa Huta including "Ten trzeci" ("The Third One") directed by Jan Łomnicki, "Stal" ("Steel") and "Narodziny miasta" ("The Birth of a City").


Henryk Makarewicz's photographs show the everyday life of the inhabitants of Nowa Huta, street scenes, the architecture, aerial photos, the construction of Nowa Huta housing estates and the steelworks.
